Soccer

The trendsport headis uses the infrastructure and rules of table tennis and the element of the header from the number one sport in Germany soccer.

The only way you are permitted to play the ball is with your head. This combining link between soccer and table tennis with highly stimulative nature of headis has already generated several cooperations.

2009 headis was in the stadium of the 1. FC Kaisersalutern and introduced it to the fans who could participate and learn to play headis. They were headis excited by the coice of having a physical workout. That day Kaiserslautern won 4 : 1 against Duisburg this result was predicted on the headis homepage before the game. Since that day and as a result of the above named occurances headis and the 1. FC Kaiserslautern have a close cooperation.

In preseason 2010 / 11 the professional roaster of the 1. FC Kaiserslautern played headis in their training camp and enjoyed the change in their daily routine.

In the first half of the 2010 / 11 season headis was twice a guest in the stadium. Headis was one of the games in the fan duell 2010 between a fan and a former pro and international namely Marko Haber.

Interviewed after the game Marko Haber said that he was excited playing headis for the first time after seeing it on a couple of occasions. Asked if it was a game for him to play when he is older his answer was clear. “Not later in my life, I had fun right away but it also is very exhausting. You need exercise in this sport and learn a few tricks. I can see myself playing headis more often.”

Parallel to the 1. FC Kaiserslautern Hannover 96 and BVB Dortmund played headis in pre season. Sven Bender from Dortmund wanted to be filmed on his smart phone when he played his first match.

Headcoach Jürgen Klopp made the statement: “I am sure that headis increases the performance of heading a ball during a soccer game when introduced as a training tool into the daily practice.”

Headcoach Mirko Slomka from Hannover 96 ordered balls and nets after two pros of his team, Sergio Pinto and Marcel Schmiedebach played headis for the first time. Mirko Slomka used headis permanently as a training tool in pre season.

Head coach Thomas Tuchel from Mainz 05 1.FSV was impressed by Headis..

Thomas Tuchel about Headis

During the show “people of the year” where René Wegner and Verena Kullak were honored the manager of Mainz 05, Christian Heidel, tried out Headis during the live show on TV. He was astonished of the capability of the two time world champion Verena Kullak and the physical aspect of the game.

In march 2011 the whole professional roaster of Mainz 05 played headis and bought a set to be able to keep playing right away.

More cooperations for 2011 are planned. That includes not only pro but also amateur teams to put the game on a broughter base.

For example the headis world cup 2011 was held during the stadium fest of the 1. FC Kaiserslautern which is open to everyone to meet and greet the 1. FCK players.

Furthermore there is a study to improve the header in football with headis in cooperation with the sport science department of the Technical University of Kaiserslautern and the junior teams of the 1. FC Kaiserslautern.
